The Ohio Society of Traditional Archers ( OSTA ) is a family oriented Statewide
organization founded on the fundamental belief that there is a need for
fellowship and a source for information to fulfill the needs of the traditional
archer.
OSTA holds several shoots throughout the year in various parts of the
State. We try to hold them in the central part of the State, so that the travel
time is not so great that it will put a hardship on families. Along this line,
we have a $20.00 family maximum per day shooting fee. Most of the shoots are
two-day events, with Saturday being for fun and Sunday for competition if you
want. Awards are pins for adult, youth, cubs and peewees or it can be shot for
fun. Medallions are awarded to all peewees.
The competition is also for the
shooter of the year (for members only) in different classes: Longbow, Selfbow
and Recurve for Men, Women, Boys and Girls. A variety of novelty shoots are
often held for entertainment and friendly competition. Food is usually available
on the grounds. We have free camping and free vendor set up.
OSTA offers it's
members several perks which include a chance at winning a Membership Bow and two
hunts at the Christian Bowhunters Hunt at Tar Hollow State Park. These hunts are
for one week and include food, meals and lodging, with no kitchen duty. See our
links page for more information.
Check out these literary classics from previous newsletters! We are starting to
gather any information you may have regarding the "Old Days" of OSTA to compile
a History of OSTA. Any old newsletters, correspondence, photos, and even your
own stories (be careful now!) can be sent to me at BuckeyeMike@tradarchers.org
or you may bring it to the next shoot....
